Women's Giving Circle Boosts 3 Youth Programs with $11,000

Washington County, OH — The Women's Giving Circle of Washington County is awarding a total of $11,000 in grants to three local nonprofit organizations. The recipients include The Right Path for Washington County, Boys & Girls Clubs of Washington County, and The Castle, each recognized for their impactful work in the community.

The Right Path for Washington County received a $4,000 grant for its Youth Farmer’s Market Project. Cathy Harper, Director of The Right Path, expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting the project's broader impact beyond providing fresh produce.

"The Youth Farmer's Market Project is promoting healthy behavioral choices and encouraging kids to think about what they put in their bodies to fuel them. Watching youth pick out their produce and then taste it is amazing, especially when they try something for the first time. We know we are onto something bigger than just a market when kids come back asking for their favorites year after year. Thank you to the Women's Giving Circle, Marietta Community Foundation, Washington County Behavioral Health Board, Juvenile Court, and our many supporters. All the money we raise goes back into our program, and we are so grateful for all of you!"

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Washington County was also awarded $4,000 to enhance their summer educational programs.

Rebecca Johnson, Executive Director, noted, "These funds will ensure that our youth have wonderful learning experiences this summer. Weekly, we provide lessons in STEAM subjects, swimming, and other educational experiences such as trips to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Outer World in Columbus."

The Castle received a $3,000 grant to support its educational programming for children.

Kyle Yoho, Education Director at The Castle, stated, "The Castle Museum is very grateful to the generosity of the Women's Giving Circle and its members for providing funding to aid this year's educational programming for kids."

New member Linda Burnworth shared her enthusiasm after attending her first meeting, saying, "I thought it was so inspiring to be surrounded by a group of women who are investing time and money, and to have so many service organizations doing amazing work in our area. I'm really stunned by the generosity of our community, and I'm very proud to call Marietta my home."

The Women’s Giving Circle of Washington County, a companion group of Marietta Community Foundation, aims to educate, inspire, and increase local women’s participation in philanthropy. Joining the Women’s Giving Circle connects members with like-minded women, introduces them to local charitable organizations that support empowering women and youth, and allows them to make a meaningful impact through informed, focused grantmaking. Since its inception in 2016, the group has donated over $83,000 to local nonprofits benefiting women and children.
