MCF Welcomes New Summer Intern to the Team

Marietta Community Foundation is known for investing in the community of Washington County, but they’re excited to announce they will be investing in the future of a local student.

Katen Petty is a senior Marketing major at Marietta College and a Frontier High School alum. Petty joined the Pioneers in the Fall of 2019 and will complete her undergraduate degree at the end of the year.

“We’re excited to have Katen join the team this summer,” said Heather Allender, President & CEO. “Through our scholarship cycle we invest in our local students’ futures financially, but taking that a step further to give students, like Katen, professional experience is just as important.”

A large portion of the Marketing curriculum is to gain first-hand experience through an internship. After working with her adviser, Petty found the right fit at the Marietta Community Foundation and will be the Foundation’s intern for the Summer of 2021.

“I have always had a strong interest in social media outreach and advertising,” said Petty. “However, I also have a passion for non-profit work and serving others… The Marietta Community Foundation internship was appealing to me because of the positive impact they have on the community.”

Through the internship, Petty plans to directly apply her education and develop her professional skills and expertise.

“I am looking forward to getting out into the field and visiting with various non-profit organizations to provide them with resources,” said Petty. “My goals for the summer are to provide insightful ideas to promote social media outreach, have meaningful interactions with non-profits, and make useful connections I can carry throughout my professional career.”

The Marietta Community Foundation meets National Standards for operational quality, donor service, and accountability in the community foundation sector. Founded in 1974, the Marietta Community Foundation has grown over the years thanks to a number of generous gifts.
