In a world where change is often driven by passion and energy, Marietta Community Foundation’s inaugural 25 Under 25 initiative has proven that the future of philanthropy in Washington County is bright.

With the Foundation celebrating half of a century of impact, this program was designed to look forward – to honor the individuals who will carry the torch of philanthropy into the future. These honorees represent a generation that is not only deeply invested in creating a better future, but also actively working to build it today.

Honoring a New Generation of Leaders

“Celebrating 50 years is a momentous occasion, but this initiative is about looking forward,” said Heather Allender, President and CEO of Marietta Community Foundation. “We set out to engage the next generation of philanthropists because we know it is that generation who will carry the torch forward into the next 50 years. These honorees give me hope. They’ve shown us that the spirit of giving, and leadership is alive and thriving.”

Each honoree brought a distinct passion to their work, addressing issues such as food insecurity, mental health awareness, environmental sustainability, education, and youth mentorship. They have already made an indelible mark on Washington County, embodying the Foundation’s mission to foster a thriving and engaged community.

The 25 Under 25 Honorees

Honoree Kirsten Kroft shared her heartfelt appreciation for being recognized, saying, “Being born and raised in this community has instilled in me a deep love and pride for the place I call home. Working at Baker and Baker Jewelers has given me the incredible opportunity to connect with amazing individuals and contribute to the community that has given me so much. To be honored as part of 25 Under 25 is truly humbling. This recognition inspires me to dream bigger, give more, and continue working toward a brighter future for our community.”

Nathaniel Godfrey also reflected on the honor, stating, "It was truly an honor to be selected and recognized alongside other young leaders within Washington County. Listening to the accomplishments of the others and hearing about what they’ve achieved, it’s clear that each one of them has gone out of their way to help someone or make a positive impact on their community. It’s amazing what a small group of individuals can accomplish when they set their minds to something. It makes me proud to be from Washington County."

The Future of Philanthropy

Laney Hitchens, Communications and Marketing Associate, shared her enthusiasm for this program. “As someone new to Washington County and seeing the heart of our community up close, I am in awe of what these honorees are accomplishing. They are bold, innovative, and unafraid to tackle challenges. It is incredibly inspiring to witness the impact of the leaders who will shape the next 50 years of our community.”

For Marietta Community Foundation, the 25 Under 25 list is not just a celebration of achievement, but a commitment to the future. It represents the Foundation’s belief in the power of young leaders to create a lasting legacy of compassion and service.

“We are planting seeds today,” added Allender.
