What is a Legacy Society?

The Legacy Society at Marietta Community Foundation (MCF) honors individuals who create a lasting charitable impact by including MCF in their estate plans. Whether through a will, trust, retirement plan, or a life insurance policy, your contributions ensure that your values and commitment to the community are honored and sustained.

Why Entrust Us with Your Legacy?

By choosing MCF, you are entrusting your legacy to an organization with 50 years of experience in nurturing endowments as perpetual sources of charity. We are committed to honoring the intentions of our benefactors, ensuring that their generosity continuously supports community causes and needs.

Benefits of Legacy Giving

  • Lasting Impact: Your legacy extends far beyond your lifetime, benefiting the community you cherish.

  • Tax Benefits: Intelligent estate management options that are financially advantageous.

  • Recognition: We honor your generosity in our Legacy Display and publications, with the option for anonymity.

What is Planned Giving?

Planned giving is the strategic integration of philanthropy and financial planning, maximizing the impact of your assets both during your lifetime and beyond. MCF works alongside your financial and legal advisors to tailor charitable contributions that benefit both you and the community, with our services being complimentary and user-friendly.

Your legacy with MCF is eternal. Our investment strategy ensures that your name and intentions are forever associated with community support and growth.

How to Make a Planned Gift to MCF

Statement of Donor Intent (Sample)

One of the most straightforward methods to arrange a planned gift is to designate the Marietta Community Foundation as a recipient of your retirement assets or life insurance policy. This can be easily done by contacting your financial advisor or account manager to modify the beneficiary details.

Additionally, you can opt to leave a planned gift through your will or trust. This can be achieved by including language such as “I/we bequeath to Marietta Community Foundation (tax ID 74-3054287), located in Marietta, Ohio, [a specific percentage] of my/our residual estate or a sum of $[specified amount].”

Expressing your intention to leave a gift to MCF is sufficient for joining our 1788 Legacy Society, and is easily done with a Statement of Donor Intent. We are committed to working closely with you to ensure your gift is remembered and honored in the way you envision, including how you prefer to be acknowledged for your generosity.
