MCF Awards Grants to 21 Organizations in Fall Grant Cycle

Washington County, OH – Although 2019 is coming to an end, Marietta Community Foundation is not letting up in their efforts to make Washington County a thriving community.

In their Fall 2019 Grant Cycle, the Foundation awarded grants to 21 local nonprofits, totaling approximately $80,000.

“Each grant cycle helps us strengthen our relationships with our local nonprofits,” said Heather Allender, President & CEO of the Foundation. “We are able to see how they are growing, the projects they are working on, and their long-term plans in the community.”

Recipients of these grants include local charities, local non-profits, and community projects all across Washington County and the surrounding area.

Fall Grant Cycle Recipients:

-   Chuck Wagon Backpack Program of Beverly

-   Civil War Roundtable of the Mid-Ohio Valley

-   Community Action – Washingon/Morgan County

-   Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Mid-Ohio Valley

-   Ely Chapman Education Foundation

-   Eve, Inc.

-   Gowns for Your Day, Inc.

-   Marietta College – S.T.R.E.A.M. Camp

-   Marietta College – 2020 Career Connect Job Fair

-   Marietta College – 2019-2020 Junior PioBiz

-   Marietta Community Food Pantry

-   Marietta Fire Dept. Local 442

-   Marietta Main Street

-   Mid-Ohio Valley Autism Community

-   O’Neill Senior Center, Inc.

-   River Cities Symphony Orchestra, Inc.

-   Students Solving Problems

-   WASCO, Inc.

-   Waterford High School

"We continue to be overwhelmingly grateful for the support of Marietta Community Foundation,” said Cristie Thomas, Interim Executive Director of Marietta Main Street. “Not only will these funds contribute to the continued revitalization of our beloved downtown but also of our own organization as we continue growing to meet the demands of our community.”

“This award will help us make our facilities more comfortable for our students,” said Gary Williams, Development Director at Ely Chapman Education Foundation. “Plus, it will help us save on energy costs, which will allow us to put more of our funds toward our programs.”

Applicants submitted their proposal packets for the Foundation’s 2019 Fall Grant Cycle by October 1st. The Foundation’s Allocations Committee and staff conducted research and site visits for multiple weeks leading up to the final approvals, determined by the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Grant recipients will often receive a combination of grants from the foundation’s unrestricted funds and donations from active donors who utilize the Foundation’s management and distribution services.

The Foundation’s next grant cycle will take place in the Spring of 2020, with grant applications due on February 15th.
