Ingredients To Our Success: The Robinson Family
Recently, Marietta Community Foundation published several stories of local families and organizations in the Foundation’s 2020 Annual Report, including this one. Each of these comes from different backgrounds and perspectives, but they all serve as a crucial ingredient to our community.
Washington County is lucky to be home to many who regularly practice philanthropy, including the Robinson family.
The late Harry J. Robinson was highly active in our community, and chose to exercise philanthropy at Marietta Community Foundation. He was a supporter of the Community Impact Fund, and pieces of his artwork collection now reside in the Foundation’s office.
This practice has continued through the generations. Doug Robinson, Harry’s son, served on the Foundation’s Board of Directors for nine years.
Doug said that being on the Board was one of the best things he’s ever done. “Interacting with my board members and seeing all of the help we generate for the community... It was an awesome experience for me.”
Doug’s son, Ryan Robinson, is continuing the family’s legacy by currently serving on the Board of Directors.
“Over many family dinners throughout the years, I would often hear about [my family’s] involvement [with Marietta Community Foundation],” said Ryan. “It was something that I found impressive and was also encouraged of me. I’m just glad I’ve been able to actually follow in the footsteps they have been taking for many years.”
Doug is now enjoying retirement and watching his grandchildren run around.
Ryan and his wife Katarina are hopeful their children, Mishka and Lukas, will one day not only cook Katarina’s favorite family recipe, but also give back through Marietta Community Foundation.
